The Placer Group is one of 11 groups in the Sierra Club’s Mother Lode Chapter, representing members in Western Placer County. Founded in 1892 by John Muir, the Sierra Club focuses on exploring, enjoying and protecting the Sierra Nevada and its natural resources. The group remains active, driven by its past achievements and ongoing conservation goals.
