Organizing to Protect Democracy: The Role of Activists

  • Virtual event - Join from anywhere! (map)

Movements aren't built in one moment. They're built by people who keep showing up, even when the work feels heavy. That's you.

We're over 18 months into the current administration, and threats on our freedoms—whether they're attempts to continue funding the ICE deportation machine or a frivolous push to fund a ballroom—are constant and intentional.

Authoritarianism thrives off of cycles of cynicism, isolation, and powerlessness. That's why it's each of our responsibility to regularly remind one another of just how far we've come—and the impact we have when we show up.

This month, our Organizing to Protect Democracy session focuses on how we organize in times of uncertainty: what roles activists can play within your sphere of influence, and how this work builds toward what comes next.

Even in moments of mayhem, our activism is working. In just these past few months, we've flooded the streets to reject attacks on our communities, stopped Congress from writing a blank check to DHS, and taken steps to care more for our neighbors. We can't stop now.

In this training, we'll explore your role in sustaining the movement during ongoing attacks. You'll learn how to engage businesses, artists, and community leaders in your life to move people to action.
