Organizing to Protect Democracy: Peaceful Mass Protest

  • Virtual event - Join from anywhere! (map)

Civil liberties are protected when We, The People, Organize.

The ACLU's Organizing to Protect Democracy training series is built to help volunteers develop real organizing skills, strengthen leadership, and take part in community-based defense of civil liberties. You'll learn how to take action and organize in a moment when our communities are facing threats to their safety and their rights.

Join the kickoff session of our 2026 series on March 11th and learn how peaceful mass protest has been used as a strategic organizing tool throughout history.

From civil rights movements to women's suffrage to modern community mobilizations, peaceful mass protest has played a central role in expanding freedom, strengthening community voices, and creating change. In 2026, we must come together to build on this legacy.

This session is designed for volunteers who want to gain key skills they can use right away to participate in collective, community based action. In our first Organizing to Protect Democracy session, you'll learn crucial organizing tools related to peaceful protest and put them to work.
