Freedom Vigils Movement Call

  • Virtual event - Join from anywhere! (map)

Are you looking for a peaceful, powerful way to oppose this administration’s cruel attacks on immigrants and horrific human rights abuses?

If so, please join us for The Workers Circle Freedom Vigils Movement Call on May 18th at 8 pm ET/ 5 pm PT, where you’ll learn tips and tactics for organizing a Freedom Vigil to show solidarity with our immigrant neighbors and friends. All are welcome to join this call, whether or not you are a seasoned vigil organizer or are new to this strategy for resistance.

Freedom vigils are public gatherings that shine a light on the cruel realities of detention and deportation, and demand they come to an end. They offer a way for you to build power and community. Held outside detention sites, courthouses, jails, and other public spaces, they are led by local community members like you. On the call you will hear ideas, resources, and lessons learned from people organizing Freedom Vigils across the country. There is plenty of room for creativity at these peaceful, family-friendly events; you will learn and exchange ideas to inspire you in planning your vigil- whether it's your first time or you're building on past experience. You will also learn about the support available to guide you in organizing your vigil– you are not in this alone!

These vigils are multiplying and growing across the country, gaining momentum, becoming a movement, and having an impact. Please join us as we come together for this conversation about how to organize or grow your Freedom Vigils.

Thank you to our event co-sponsors: MoveOn, Voto Latino, Coalition on Human Needs, League of Women Voters St. Petersburg Area, Faithful America, Jews for a Secular Democracy, and Sojourners.
