Democracy Defenders - Norm Eisen, Spencer Klein, and Maria Peralta - describe midterm election threats

Join Volunteer Blue for a 30-minute Tiny Zoom on vote protection. Legal experts from Democracy Defenders - Norm Eisen, Spencer Klein, and Maria Peralta - will break down potential threats to the November elections and explain how attorneys and other volunteers can fight back.

In recent years, there has been a disturbing rise in aggressive, illegal tactics designed to suppress tens of thousands of votes for Democratic candidates. When ballots are cast and counted this November, volunteers – attorneys and others - will play a major role in making sure citizens can vote and results are reported accurately.

Legal teams are already preparing for potential election interference, including:

  • Intimidating voters and poll workers: harassment, violence, or unauthorized federal forces (like ICE) at polling stations.

  • Disrupting the count: threats to election staff, seizure of ballots/voting machines, or officials refusing to certify accurate results.

  • Subverting results: Congressional refusal to seat rightfully elected winners.

While attorneys across the country are ready to defend the election, more volunteers are needed to join the line of defense by:

  • Staffing voter hotlines and assisting voters with complex rules

  • Working at the polls to monitor and report problems

  • Helping voters fix simple errors on mail-in ballots (ballot curing)

  • Alerting legal teams immediately when court intervention is required

Don’t sit on the sidelines while legitimate votes are at risk. Take action now to protect the vote in November.
