ACLU JULY People Power Action Call

  • Virtual event - Join from anywhere! (map)

Join ACLU organizers and volunteers on ACLU’s July People Power Action Call,

For months, our members of Congress have been making decisions in Washington that affect our rights, our communities, and our futures.

From attacks on civil liberties to policies impacting immigrants, voting rights, and our democratic institutions, communities across the country are living with the consequences of decisions made in Washington, D.C..

Now Congress is coming home.

During August Recess, members of Congress leave Washington and return to their districts, where they attend town halls, community events, and meetings with constituents. It's one of the few times each year when lawmakers are especially accessible to the people they represent.

Democracy doesn't stop after voting on Election Day. When elected officials make decisions that impact our lives, constituents have the power—and responsibility—to make their voices heard.

Join ACLU People Power for our July Organizing to Protect Democracy session: a practical organizing training on how to engage members of Congress during August Recess and help advance civil liberties at the federal level.

You'll leave with: a greater understanding of why grassroots advocacy works, the ACLU's Congressional priorities for August recess, and how to deliver a message to your Members of Congress.
