After We March, We Organize! Solidarity Warriors Indivisible Action Group

  • Virtual Meeting - Join from anywhere. (map)

Mass demonstrations, like Hands Off!, NO KINGS, and Good Trouble Lives On, generate a tremendous amount of energy! We can't let that energy dissipate. We can harness it and turn it into action.

Come learn how to be an organizer and make change in your community. We'll teach you all the things we wish we'd known when we got started. We often have guest speakers on topics like Immigrant Rights, Indigenous History, Cybersecurity, How to Protest Safely, and more!

📜Join us for an important discussion on the movement to overturn Citizens United! 📜 Several strategies are being pursued in parallel right now. We'll get you up to speed on where things stand across Congress, the states, and a proposed convention of states.

🏛️ We'll start with the federal legislative track, including Move To Amend's long-running People's Amendment and the newer Abolish Super PACs Act (H.R.2352). Both currently draw only about 110 votes, far short of the 356 needed for a constitutional amendment, even with a Democratic controlled Congress. So there’s work to do! From there we'll turn to the states: 🌲 Maine's Question 1, which capped Super PAC contributions at $5,000 before being challenged and ruled unconstitutional, with a Supreme Court hearing expected by summer 2027, and 🌺 Hawaii's SB 2471, also known as the Montana Plan, which limits the political power of corporations and is also headed toward the Supreme Court in 2027.

🗳️ We'll also cover a nationwide effort to amend the Constitution through a limited, non-partisan convention of states. This campaign is working state by state to pass resolutions calling for a convention focused narrowly on two amendments: recognizing rights for natural persons only (NOT corporations), and establishing campaign finance limits with full transparency. The proposal includes a built-in "abort clause" designed to keep the convention from expanding beyond its intended scope, an important distinction from a separate, vaguer convention campaign that's already secured 20 of the 34 states needed.

We'll also take a look at fears about a "runaway convention" and a real-world counterexample from a model constitutional convention. There's no single path to overturning Citizens United, and everyone in this movement benefits from knowing all of them!

We'll close with a look at Colorado's own ballot initiative with one of our members, Sherri.

✊ Come ready to learn, ask questions, and find out how you can take action!

Solidarity Warriors is an action-focused, Indivisible group formed after the November election. We're one of the main groups organizing mass demonstrations in Denver. We're made up of people from across the nation, many in Colorado. We're focused on action rather than just airing political grievances, so please come prepared to talk about what you want to DO to resist the new administration and protect vulnerable communities.
